Well max did not believe in his self and killer Kane got a hold of him he had to stick up for him self and like when ever killer Kane got a hold of Iggy Max had to yell and screame and to get his allintion. He was trying to get Iggy out.

Max does change through the book because whenever freak (Kevin) became Max's friend. Kevin was always telling Max that he believed in him. Max and Freak did everything together and they called themselves Freak The Mighty. But closer to the end Max's dad came and kidnapped him. But whenever killer Kane took Max to the old testaments building, Loretta went down to save Max and then when she untied him, killer Kane strangled her. so max tried to distract killer Kane by telling him he remembers everything about killer Kane killing his mother. Then whenever killer Kane was strangling Max, thats when Freak came in through the window. Freak had a squirt gun on him and told killer Kane it sulfuric acid it was really soap and corrosive powder. When killer Kane was getting closer to Freak, Freak pulled the trigger. So then Max scooped Freak and his arms and ran up the breaking stairs, and saved Freak. But in the very ending Freak passes away.

At the begging of the book Max didn't have very much confidence in him self and didn't have very many friends. Then he found Kevin that moved in down the block and they became friends and towards the end after killer Kane got arrested he started to like Grim and Gram .I can relate to max a little bit because when I was little I was very shy.
